Abura Tsubo – Metal Oil Pot for Knife Maintenance

This small container, with a capacity of approximately 30ml, features an internal oil-soaked applicator pad that allows for quick and even distribution of oil onto tools, helping to protect them from rust.

Inside the pot, there is a layer of gauze that absorbs the oil once poured in. This gauze makes contact with the applicator pad, allowing oil to rise through capillary action—helping to evenly distribute oil while preventing excessive usage. Traditionally, Abura Tsubo pots were made from bamboo and worked on the same capillary principle.

The container is sealed with a rubber gasket between the body and the applicator pad. The pad is further protected from drying out by a tightly screwed plastic cap.

Caution:

• To maintain proper capillary action, always keep the bottle upright during transport. Otherwise, the applicator pad may become oversaturated and cause leakage.

• Do not overfill the container with oil.

The applicator pad comes pre-soaked with a small amount of mineral oil for immediate use. However, we recommend avoiding direct skin contact and washing your hands after use.
