The manufacturer, Shizu Hamono, has revived Damascus steel a material highly valued for its beauty in medieval Syria and skillfully used it to craft the blade.

“Miyako” is the result of a meticulous process including hand forgingmirror polishingsatin finishing, and other techniques passed down by master bladesmiths in the town of Seki. The result is a blade that is vividuniquely crafted, and razor-sharp—a true masterpiece in the collection of Shizu Takumi.

Shizu Takumi proudly states that Miyako can maintain its cutting performance over a long period, with exceptional edge retention that lasts without the need for frequent sharpening.

The handle is designed in a D-shaped (chestnut) form, fitting comfortably and naturally in your hand. It is made from Pakka wood, which is highly resistant to rot and water absorption. A stainless steel end cap is also attached at the base of the handle, giving Miyako a seamless, elegant appearance and a solid, well-balanced feel.
